Nurburgring WSBK: Coghlan 'over moon' with debut Supersport podium

DMC Kawasaki's Kevin Coghlan took his first World Supersport podium at the Nurburgring WSBK round and now hopes to build on his success as the season counts down.

The young Scot didn't have an easy time of it, slipping off in in the opening qualifying session but he bounced back to secure a third-row start and clawed his way through for third place after an average start.

"Over the moon with that first podium. Especially after a hard race. Really need to thank the team, they have been working a lot to improve the bike for me and also to improve me as a rider and it is really starting to pay off," said Coghlan.

"I didn't get a great start and struggled to get the tyre to work on the first few laps. When I got up to speed I started to work my way through the pack. I was just trying to keep consistent good lap times. Towards the end I could see I was catching the guys in front.

"Zannetti started to make some mistakes and I was able to take advantage of that. We are looking to build on this result now and see if we can make these podium finishes more of a regular thing."
