Peugeot has announced the 2009 model line-up for its iconic Speedfight scooter and demand is expected to be high, as it is due to be replaced by the all-new Speedfight 3 during the summer.
Credited with creating the concept of a sports scooter, over half a million Speedfights have been manufactured and sold since its launch in 1996 and the current crop of bold colours show off the French scooter’s distinctive lines to full effect.
Three models are available, all of which feature the single arm front fork and asymmetrical twin lens headlights that make the Speedfight so instantly recognisable. Produced in orange/black and black/silver, the Speedfight LR has a liquid cooled 50cc 2-stroke engine at its heart that is smooth, responsive, economical and complies with European emissions standards. Tri-spoke alloy wheels, 180mm wavy disc brake and ‘snake bite’ sports exhaust come as standard too.
In blue/silver, the Ultimate has all of the above plus alloy foot plates and two-tone sports seat, while the top-of-the-range R-Cup shares this specification but with special paint work and sponsor logos to celebrate Peugeot’s success in World Rally.
Peugeot increased its UK market share during 2008 and the company is confident that excitement surrounding the outgoing Speedfight 2 and incoming Speedfight 3 puts them in a strong position for the year ahead.
