Pedercini Kawasaki’s David Salom escaped his massive Phillip Island World Superbike Superpole crash with just concussion and a broken finger, and has been discharged from Melbourne Albert Hospital.
The Spaniard was spat over the highside of his ZX-10R at turn 12, the long, fast left-hander before the Gardner Straight. Salom tumbled over his length, landing on his neck twice and was taken to them medical centre before being airlifted out.
Because the helicopter cannot be used if bikes are on track, the remainder of Superpole was cancelled and Jonathan Rea was awarded top spot.
