Former MotoGP star Garry McCoy is to race a Triumph Daytona in the Portimao World Supersport round at the brand-new Portugese track in three weeks' times.
The Aussie tested the 675cc triple at Mugello and will line up as a third rider in the Triumph BE1 team.
"I'm really happy to have the opportunity to ride one of the Triumph Italia BE1 Racing's bikes at Portimao. I really like the machine and I think that Daytona 675 has a potential," said McCoy.
"That is why, after the testing session at Mugello, I think that we can finish in the top five. The test was useful in order to get a feedback about my physical conditions. No problems at all, except a light pain at one rib when I change direction quickly, but I think I'll be ok within fifteen days at Portimao."
Team Manager Giuliano Rovelli added: "Our goal is to line up three motorbikes at Portimao where we feel confident to have the chances to grab a very good result. I'm really glad to have Garry with us, on a new track where all the teams have no point of reference. Garry's big experience will be really helpful to carry on our growth."
