Pata Honda's Leon Haslam looks likely to take to the grid in this afternoon's second World Superbike race at Portimao even after pulling out of the first encounter.
The gritty Derbyshire man hadn't done any more than four laps in succession during practice and found that after making a good start in the opener, he began to suffer arm-pump due to compensating for his injured leg with his upper body.
"I want to have another go in race two because we have a couple of things to try on the bike. Nothing chassis-wise but some stuff. I got arm-pump out there, which is something I don't usually suffer because I am compensating for my leg with my arms and upper body," said Haslam, speaking to bikespornews.com at the circuit.
"It's difficult but just being on the bike is good for me. My fitness has improved massively since Donington Park and I am making good progress with it."
