Update 14:30: Racing will go ahead today, WorldSSP at 18:15 (15 Laps), WorldSBK at 19:45 (17 laps) - times local.
Today’s WorldSBK and WorldSSP action in Qatar is under threat after a massive storm ripped across Losail, dumping sand and water on the track and tearing up deckchairs, according to Honda boss Chris Pike.
Torrential rain and high winds took everyone by surprise before morning warm-up with garages, hospitality suites and grandstands flooded.
Floodlight masts were bending to an alarming degree, according to witnesses, while the podium hoarding has come to bits in spectacular fashion.
Currently, the TV compound is not functioning and a two-metre satellite dish has been ripped from its mooring and smashed into a wall, so that will also be taken into consideration.
The track is now drying out with officials expected to announce more information in an hour or so.
