Yamaha's Cal Crutchlow has taken his first ever World Supersport pole position at Qatar this morning but he was pushed all the way by Parkalgar Honda's Eugene Laverty, who was just 0.043s behind.
The former British Superbike rider held pole for a majority of the session with a 2'01.133 lap with Ten Kate Honda's Andrew Pitt second and Laverty third, just a tenth slower.
With seven minutes of the session to go, Pitt's team-mate Kenan Sofuoglu popped into second place with a 2'02.242 as Crutchlow consolidated his pole position with a 2'01.586. The Turk is obviously not suffering after his big crash at turn two this morning.
Laverty returned to the pits for some minor tweaks with five minutes to go and then stormed into second place with a minute left on the clock, posting a 2'01.629. Pitt rounds out the front row with a 2'02.266.
