Rea aiming for feeling improvements at Jerez

Jonathan Rea will be back in action at Circuito de Jerez Angel Nieto on Wednesday as WorldSBK winter testing begins.

The six-time world champion is eager to return to his Kawasaki Racing Ninja ZX-10RR as he prepares to contest his seventh title in 2022, with the final track action of the year running from 15th-17th December.

Fresh from his double podium at last month’s Indonesian finale, and with 13 victories to his name in 2021, the Northern Irishman is set on improving both himself and the KRT package further for next season.

“I am really happy to get back on the bike this side of Christmas because we can try to carry on the good feeling we finished with at the end of the season,” Rea said ahead of the action.

“Jerez is always a good test circuit to go to because we have a lot of data from there. It is also a circuit that has never been the strongest for us so we can work in some weaker areas. We expect to have some items to test, which is really good because KMC and KRT have been working very hard on some new chassis items and electronics.

“We hope to improve the feeling of our bike, work together in a good way and the target will be to give good solid info to all the engineers try to improve the overall package. There is no pressure for lap times or anything like that. I am looking forward to it and I hope that the weather is good, and consistent, so that we can get a lot of laps done.”
