Ten Kate Honda's Gino Rea heads to Assen this weekend to contest the ONK Dutch Supersport Championship on his European Superstock Honda CBR600 in preparation for the forthcoming World Superbike round at Imola.
After a tough weekend at the Nurburgring, which saw Gino finish in sixth, he is determined to claw back the 24 point deficit over the three remaining rounds and become European Champion.
"Im looking forward to this weekend's Dutch Supersport race at Assen. We are currently struggling with setup of the bike, not having as much track time as my competitors at Nurburgring really put us on the back foot in the race," said the youngster.
"We are hoping to find something this weekend that we can take forward to the remaining WSBK STK600 races. I raced in the Dutch Superbike series at the beginning of the year in the SBK class as a replacement rider and I enjoyed the championship, it will be good to go back and see how everyone is getting on."
As for 2010, there is interest in Rea from a variety of grids including WSBK, WSS, BSB and Moto2 and he is keen to secure a winning bike.
