Sam Lowes claimed his first World Superbike podium

Gold & Goose

For the first time in his World Superbike career, Sam Lowes has claimed a podium position.

The 2025 Dutch World Superbike Round has quickly turned into a weekend to remember for Sam Lowes. On Saturday, he was able to claim his first pole position in the class before converting it into his first podium on Sunday.

Lowes was taken out in Race One on Saturday, so his full potential was still unknown to many. However, in the wet conditions in Sunday morning's Superpole Race, he was able to finish in second place.

"I'm really happy, obviously the weekend has been better," Lowes told TNT Sports after the Superpole Race.

"I was unfortunate yesterday, not saying I could have had a podium yesterday. But obviously in the wet conditions I felt good, which is strange because at the end of last year I was quite slow.

"I felt good in the Warm-Up, and then in that race, I was so conscious of getting a good start I locked the front a bit into turn one.

"I thought 'oh no' but I came through well and I really enjoyed that. I am happy to be at the front and consistent in all conditions and start to get to the front with these boys."

At the start of the Superpole Race, it took Lowes a few laps to get to grips with the wet conditions after making a mistake on the opening lap.

However, once he was able to find his rhythm and follow his brother, he was able to carve his way through the field.

"Honestly, yeah it was a little bit and I was following Alex [Lowes] for a bit and he made some great moves," Lowes explained.

"I couple of times he went through, pushed the person wide and I was able to come through. So, it was like the Lowes train for a couple of laps

"I was overly cautious, but I felt a bit of pressure after not finishing yesterday. I knew I needed to finish, but in those conditions, if you have that little bit in you, it does take it off.

"But as I freed up, got into the race, and realised my setting was nice, I relaxed a bit."
