Sheils steals Cookstown 100 Superbike pole

Derek Sheils has put his Cookstown BE Racing Suzuki on pole position for today’s KDM Hire Cookstown 100. Sheils a former Irish National Superbike Champion qualified in a time of 1 minute 25.955 seconds - almost a second quicker than his nearest rival Derek McGee, third place on the grid is filled by Michael Sweeney, Brian McKormack who was a late entrant to the Cookstown was a respectable fourth quickest in this his first road race of 2016 with William Dunlop filling the top five.

In the Supersport class it was Paul Jordan quickest followed by Mulingar man Derek McGee And Manxman Dan Kneen

There was supposed to be three races last night but they were called off after a number of red flag incidents and the failing light
