Silverstone WSBK: Haslam rues swapping to qualifiers

BMW Motorrad's Leon Haslam is rueing a swap to qualifying tyres in the second Superpole session at Silverstone this afternoon, saying he could have set a good enough time on race rubber to make it onto the second row for tomorrow's World Superbike double header.

The Derbyshire man, who has had his most consistent weekend since the opening Phillip Island round, just missed out on the third session and a place in the top eight but says he has good pace for tomorrow.

"I should have stayed out on race tyres as I could have done a mid 2'04 on them which would have been enough. But we had to try the qualifier to see what it would do but it wasn't enough," said Haslam, speaking to bikesportnews.com this evening.

"The qualy tyres just give us a bit too much grip which throws the setup out. They should be good for an extra second but it is tough for is to use them. We're pretty happy with where we are though and it should be a couple of good races tomorrow."
