PBM Kawasaki's Tom Sykes has been ruled out of today's World Superbike action at Silverstone and his planned wildcard at the Brands Hatch British Superbike round next weekend due to ligament damage caused by a crash yesterday.
The Huddersfield youngster slipped off in the final free practice session and was thought to have only suffered a sprained right ankle but follow-up X-rays have revealed more serious injuries which will only allow him to race at the Nurgburgring.
"We don't have much luck at all. Tom is out of this weekend and next weekend but he should be back for the race in Germany," said team boss Paul Bird, speaking to bikesportnews.com this morning.
"It's a shame because he had some real race pace for both of today's outings and I think he was in for some good results. Let's hope he can do the same at the Nurburgring."
