Silverstone WSBK: Pushbike crash rules out Muggeridge

Castrol Honda's replacement rider Karl Muggeridge has been forced to withdraw from this weekend's Silverstone World Superbike round after spraining his wrist in a mountain bike accident on Tuesday, forcing the team to wheel in Fabrizio Lai.

Although he didn't break anything, Muggeridge and his German HPR Honda team had no alternative but to withdraw him from the Silverstone event as he has German Superbike commitments next weekend. Lai, meanwhile, has WSB experience and is currently in the CIV championship with Echo Honda.

“We’re all very sorry for Karl, as we were really looking forward to working with him again this weekend. However, we understand that he needs to be fit for the next IDM round to fight again for the title. So, we have a replacement for Ruben’s replacement, and we will make Fabrizio welcome and work hard with him to get the best result possible at Silverstone," said team boss Ronald Ten Kate.
