World Superbike bosses have this afternoon confirmed the controversial Silverstone race two result stands despite a protest by unnamed teams.
The result was taken at the end of lap eight after the race was red-flagged on lap 10 which bumped Aprilia's Eugene Laverty off the podium - a decision the Irishman was none too happy about.
"Race Direction dismissed the protest and confirmed the results. Following an appeal, the FIM Stewards confirmed the decision of the Race Direction – which is thus final. The classification of the second race is confirmed as published on Sunday 5 August," said a statement from the FIM.
