Step Honda's Gino Rea used the last lap of today's first World Supersport qualifying session at Silverstone to bag provisional pole position, demoting long-time leader Sam Lowes to second but a little over two tenths of a second off the pace.
Lowes had been at the top of the tree for most of the 45 minutes but Rea slowly crept up the leaderboard to snatch top spot. Parkingo Yamaha's Luca Scassa is in third place with veteran Fabien Foret, on the Ten Kate Honda, rounding out the front row.
Robbin Harms and Roberto Tamburini pushed the Bogdanka Honda of James Ellison into the middle of row two with this morning's fastest man David Salom in eighth. Youngster Florian Marino is ninth while championship leader Chaz Davies is struggling in tenth place. Wildcard Luke Stapleford, on the Road and Racing Kawasaki is 18th and 2.8s in arrears.
