Parkingo Yamaha's Chaz Davies was unsure which tyre to pick for yesterday's World Supersport encounter at Silverstone after not being able to find a good setup for qualifying and a good grid slot at the Northamptonshire circuit.
Welshman Davies eventually came through to win and increase his series lead to a very healthy 42 over David Salom while early challenger and team-mate Luca Scassa has slipped to fifth behind Broc Parkes. He dedicated the win to his (much) older sister, who had a birthday yesterday (28. Again…).
"It was great to get a win at my home race. It was definitely one of the best races of the year. There were a good few passes back and forth so it wasn't easy to get the win. I was eighth on the grid, we struggled all weekend as I couldn't get that fast lap in to get on the front row," said Davies.
"I got off to a good start and did my best to hold the pace. I wasn't sure which tyres to use so I think we must have made the right choice and I'm relieved with that. It was a great battle with the guys and I had so much fun. Thanks so much to my team, they did a great job and I want to dedicate the win to my sister, because it's her birthday."
