Kyle Smith will return to the FIM Supersport World Championship in 2022 competing with VFT Yamaha.

Smith will partner Marcel Brenner for the coming season at the Italian-based outfit run by Valerio and Fabio Menghi, after a turbulent year in the British championship with Dynavolt Triumph.

Smith has 62 Supersport races to his name so far, recording nine podiums and three victories before the year out on UK soil.

A delayed start to the 2022 calendar sees the opening race scheduled for early April at MotorLand Aragon in Spain.

‘Yeeaahhh I’m back!’ Smith confirmed on social media on Friday afternoon.

“I will be racing World Supersport alongside Marcel Brenner with VRT Racing Team! Thank you guys to trust in me!

“I am really motivated to return to the World Supersport scene and to start this new project with a team that believes in me. I can't wait to show what we are capable of, working hard for a successful season. I thank all the sponsors who support us."
