An official announcement confirming that Ben Spies will do a straight swap with Britain's James Toseland and make the move to MotoGP is expected to come from Yamaha tomorrow.
It is believed that a deal to put Spies in the blue riband class and move Toseland back to World Superbikes to partner Yamaha World Supersport rider Cal Crutchlow has been fine-tuned over the weekend at Imola.
Although Spies doesn't confirm the move, an interview with WSB world feed commentator Jonathan Green sees the Texan say he is "not afraid to try new stuff".
