Steve Day to join Whitham as Eurosport WSBK commentator

Former British Supersport racer Steve Day will join James Whitham as Eurosport's lead commentator for next year's World Superbike coverage, replacing Jack Burnicle who will concentrate on British Superbikes

Day, who has strong roots in Dave Stewart's Thundersport club, stood in for Burnicle last season when he was on British Superbike duty, successfully teaming with Neil Hodgson when not adding colour to the world of Nordic Combined ski-ing.

"I'm truly over the moon. As a young lad watching with my Dad in the grandstands at Brands Hatch in the nineties to my recent commentary, the World Superbike Championship and bike racing in general is my life and I can't wait to get started," said Day

"I've been commentating for British Eurosport since 2010 and I'm not only extremely grateful to them for the opportunity but also excited about the plans for the new season. The BSB and WSBK championships will have extended coverage on the channel and with Speedway too, hopefully the fans are in for a jaw dropping season.

"To work alongside James Whitham is going to be amazing. I won't tell him that I used to have a poster of him on my wall as that just sounds wrong.... But no, his experience, knowledge and sense of humour makes him one of the best in the business so I hope we can supply the fans with informative and exciting commentary over the 2014 season."
