Factory Kawasaki World Superbike front-runner Tom Sykes believes regulations for the championship should remain as they are and would like to see a re-introduction of two bikes per rider.
The Huddersfield man, who missed out on the 2012 title by just half a point, thinks as much money is spent on staffing a single-bike garage as a two-bike pit and said that running Superstock rules in 2014 woud be 'laughable'.
“I hope it stays the same and even goes back to the two-bike rule. I feel that the one bike rule, making fast pit stops, things like this, people are taking on more staff. I think, my personal opinion, people spend almost as much money to improve in those areas when they already have a second rolling chassis sat around and then a spare engine as well," said Sykes, speaking to Bikesport News.
“My opinion is not going to change anything, but racing in SBK for the past four seasons I think it has been fantastic. Close racing, many manufacturers winning races. It is working well and it’s great to be part of it. It is quite laughable to be to be racing stock classes, and I will be disappointed if that is the way it goes.”
