Sykes targets Silverstone WSBK double win this weekend

Kawasaki's Tom Sykes has targeted a replica of his Donington Park double win at this weekend's Silverstone World Superbike round and doesn't care whether it is wet or dry at the Northamptonshire circuit.

Sykes struggled in the rain last year but now says his overall package is so consistent and strong, he is now only out to win races, not pick up points in his chase the championship. He currently trails Aprilia's Sylvain Guintoli by four points.

“The bike was strong last year but we have improved a lot since then – we were weak in the wet then, but now we should be a lot more consistent. The whole package is working so well for me so I am happy to race anywhere. I used to have favourite circuits, others not, but now, I race and race to win," said Sykes.

“Silverstone is my home round, 40 minutes drive from my house and I am hoping to have something similar to my results at Donington Park earlier in the season (a double race win) and I will be giving my everything to be at the sharp end.

“Another double win is the aim but we will start this weekend as any other. Use Friday free practice well to work on the bike and then see where we go from there but I want to go out and win."
