Could the Phillip Island World Superbike Test be what Tarran Mackenzie and his team needed to kick-start their 2025 season?

This weekend Tarran Mackenzie will start his second season as a World Superbike rider with the Petronas MIE Racing Honda Team.

However, after a disappointing first season, it appears that the British rider may be in for a tough 2025 season.

On the final day of testing, Mackenzie was 22nd in the standings and was 2.450 seconds slower than Nicolo Bulega's best lap time. But the 29-year-old had to end his session early after crashing in the dry morning session.

Despite his lap times placing him at the back end of the timesheets, Mackenzie has found positives from the test.

"This morning’s session was very useful," Mackenzie explained after the Phillip Island Test.

"We figured out a few things between Monday and Tuesday’s sessions and had more of an understanding as to where we need to improve.

"Unfortunately, I had a little crash, which put a premature end to that session and then unluckily, it rained on and off during the afternoon session which meant we weren’t able to get any laps in at all.

"The positive thing is that we have more of a direction heading into the race weekend.

"Yesterday’s track time was valuable and now we look ahead to this first round, when we’ll do our best to start the 2025 season on a high."
