A crucial two-day test for Tarran Mackenzie was cut short after rain stopped play on Thursday.

There was a lot of hope for Tarran Mackenzie at the Jerez World Superbike Test. However, in the end, the British rider is left with more questions than answers after the two-day test was cut down to one.

Mackenzie is preparing for his second year of racing in World Superbikes for the Petronas MIE Racing Honda Team. Although the team and manufacturer have provided him with new parts to test he was not able to gather all the data he needed.

The former British Superbike Champion had a new fuel tank, seat and electronic package to test in Jerez. However, it was not going to be easy to gather all the data for the three new major parts in one day.

At the end of Day One Mackenzie set a lap time of 1:41.715 and ended the day 35th out of the World Superbike machines that entered the test. But Day Two did not go Mackenzie's way as rain stopped play and he decided to sit out the final day.

“We completed our first test of the season in Jerez today and even if it was great to be back in action again, the session left us wanting more," Mackenzie said after the Jerez Test.

"The bike’s changed with respect to what we were using at the end of last year, with a lot of new items including a new tank, seat, and electronics. That means a lot of set-up work, and it’s why I didn’t immediately have the feeling I was looking for.

"I was confident that we could use day two to get used to everything but, unfortunately, wet weather has prevented us from doing that today.

"That’s just the way it goes sometimes I guess; it’s a little frustrating but hopefully the weather picks up at Portimão and we can get out there and really make the most of the track time.”
