Aruba Ducati’s Chaz Davies and his crew worked miracles with the Panigale setup overnight at Buriram and turned a 17s deficit from race one into a race-winning challenge in the second Thailand World Superbike race today.
The Welshman considers Buriram the weakest circuit for his package and is some seven miles per hour down on top speed along the straights but some work last night on chassis settings gave him a bike he could keep with the leaders - just not quite enough to pass for the win.
We’re definitely satisfied with that step. We were 17s off the win yesterday which is unacceptable. There were a couple of issues that we got on top of overnight and it put us in contention but we are missing that last bit that enables us to put in a pass,” said Davies, speaking at the track.
“I have got to say I am happy with the work we have done on the chassis but we need a bit more power to make life a little bit easier. That being said, I consider this our weakest track, it’s difficult for me and the bike but it’s good to leave here with a smile on my face.”
