Alex Lowes was able to give the Bimota by Kawasaki Racing Team their first World Superbike podium with the KB998 Rimini.
In the Superpole Race at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli, Alex Lowes was able to return to the podium and give Bimota their first World Superbike podium since 2000.
The British rider finished in fourth place on Saturday and narrowly missed out on a podium with the bimota by Kawasaki Racing Team. But after the melee at Turn One on the opening lap, he was in the perfect position to claim second in the Superpole Race.
"Obviously, it was a shame with the Turn One incident for Nicolo [Bulega]," Lowes told TNT Sports after returning to the podium.
"Toprak [Razgatlioglu] got an advantage from it, but that is racing. I hope they are both ok [Nicolo Bulega and Axel Bassani].
"From my side, the race was good, in these hotter conditions, it is a nice feeling because the bike is working well.
"Which is something on the Kawasaki last year that went against us, it looks like this weekend we have some advantage with how the bike is turning.
"I am really happy, the team really deserve it, it is so close in World Superbikes now, so much goes on behind the scenes. To give the team this reward at their home race is fantastic, but we still have this afternoon, so I will focus on that now."
Lowes chose to run the Qualifying tyre in the 10-Lap Superpole Race on Saturday morning, despite suffering from tyre wear, it was the right choice for the 34-year-old.
"The last two laps it dropped a little bit," he explained.
"I seemed to be sliding on the rear, which affected the front. It was the right choice for us because I had the pace at the start to get good track position."
