Britain’s Chaz Davies has revealed that Ducati are working one providing himself and team-mate Davide Giugliano something to cut the top speed deficit they are experiencing in this yeat’s World Superbike series but it is not known yet whether the fix will come for this weekend’s Aragon round.
Davies won the track last year by being able to keep the Panigale’s momentum up in key areas and pulling a three-second advantage so the long back straight didn’t end up being as much of a disadvantage but the Welshman is still after some more outright speed.
“Now the bike is really close in so many areas. Over the past couple of years, I have picked holes after every race and we have always taken steps forward. We are getting to the stage now where I think the bike is nearly complete. The only thing we miss is a bit of top-end power,” said Davies, speaking to bikesportnews.com.
“It’s been a work in progress but it’s quite satisfying have a bike I am happy with in loads of different areas. Over the winter, Ducati have even made strides in some areas that I didn’t think they would be able to. The key thing we are missing is a bit of speed but there is stuff in the pipeline and it's coming quite soon. Whether it is all that we need remains to be seen but there are a couple of things on the way which will definitely help.”
