New Sterilgarda Yamaha signing Cal Crutchlow has said team-mate James Toseland is a good rider but he will wait to see how the two-time world champion goes on his return to the series.
In an exclusive interview for bikesportnews.com with World Superbike TV commentator Jonathan Green, Crutchlow says his new deal with Yamaha is along the same lines as Ben Spies' and alludes to a move to MotoGP in 2011.
"I had a two-year deal with Yamaha and it's good to be staying with them. I am looking forward to the job but I know it's going to be hard and I'm under no illusions about it," said Crutchlow.
"Having James in the team is good for me and will keep me encouraged but my job is to beat him, not to sit there and think he is a two-time world champion. He is good but we will have to see how he goes.
"My job is to go into the Superbike team and do well. I signed the deal and my new contract is along very similar lines to Ben's. It's not going to be easy, but it's a new challenge and I am looking forward to it."
