Andreas Kofler and the Yamalube Motorsport Kofler squad will compete in the 2026 World Supersport Championship.
The Austrian Yamalube Motorsport Kofler squad will enter the 2026 World Supersport Championship with two-time IDM Supersport Champion Andreas Kofler.
After securing the 2024 and 2025 IDM Supersport Championship, Kofler and his team have had their application for the 2026 World Supersport Championship accepted.
The 21-year-old will have to adapt to new machinery, having previously competed with the Yamaha R6 in the IDM Championship, but will ride the Yamaha R9 during the 2026 season.
Kofler will enter eleven of the twelve rounds in the World Supersport Championship as he will compete in the World Supersport Challenge in Europe.
"It’s the next step in my career, and I’m delighted to be able to take it in such a familiar environment. This was my absolute wish, and now it’s coming true," Kofler said.
"We have worked very well over the last two years, being the best Supersport team in the IDM for two consecutive years. Now we want to build on that and make a name for ourselves in the World Championship as well. I know I can completely rely on the team around me, and that is a crucial support for my progress."
He added, "We’ve already tested the motorcycle a bit and I felt very comfortable right from the start. So the adjustment shouldn’t be too difficult from a riding perspective, but of course the existing World Championship teams already have their experience from this season."
"The team’s long-term plan, in cooperation with Yamaha, was to develop young riders for the World Championship," said Team Manager, Klaus Kofler.
"Now we can take this step with Andreas, thanks in large part to the initiative of Wim Vermeulen, Andrea Dosoli, and Niccolo Canepa, who championed our starting position."
