WSBK Utah | CARLOS CHECA DOES THE DOUBLE

Carlos Checa has taken his first world superbike double win at the Miller Motorsport Park this evening - and Troy Bayliss scored no points in race two after he was forced to change bikes on lap five.
The runaway championship leader, who highsided out of race one, looked to have a mechanical failure on his number one bike just after Checa went past him. The affable Aussie pitted in, got on to his second bike and went back out, albeit two laps down, and immediately started lapping faster than the leaders.
Checa, meanwhile, worked his way through the top five and took the lead from Max Neukirchner on lap eight. He steadily pulled away from the young German and crossed the line more than three seconds ahead. He is now only 28 points shy of Bayliss in the championship standings.

Troy Corser, who led from the lights, crashed out with four laps to go after dicing with Max Biaggi and Michel Fabrizio, Bayliss’ team-mate, for the final podium spot. Fabrizio took third with Biaggi fourth.
Noriyuki Haga fought for a brave sixth place, riding with a collarbone broken in three places, as he was just beaten by close friend Yukio Kagayama.
