BMW Motorrad’s Michael van der Mark has been ruled out of this week’s WorldSBK tests at Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli.

The factory BMW squad, alongside its Bonovo counterpart, has three consecutive tests scheduled for the coming weeks with van der Mark set to miss the first after fracturing his leg while mountain biking at the weekend.

Scott Redding, Eugene Laverty and Loris Baz will be on track at Misano for Wednesday 16th and Thursday 17th March before action moves to Spain and the Barcelona-Catalunya Circuit at the end of next week.

“The treatment progress over the next few days will show when Michael will be able to get back on the motorbike,” BMW Motorrad Motorsport Director Marc Bongers confirmed. “We are in close contact with Michael and wish him a speedy recovery.”
