TPR by Vinales Racing has announced it won’t make the upcoming two rounds of the 2024 WorldSBK Championship in Barcelona and at Assen as planned, preferring instead to take a step back and restructure in readiness for a season debut at Misano.
The stalwart outfit - better-known under its former Team Pedercini guise - has been one of the series’ most venerable operations, debuting back in 1998, initially as a rider-manager entry for Lucio Pedercini, and has remained on the grid ever since.
However, the team’s participation has dwindled in recent years, slimming from a two-rider team to a single entry which this season was planning to contest only the European rounds.
Its plans have changed once again, however, despite support from Vinales Racing - which joined forces with Team Pedercini last year to mount a single Kawasaki entry for Isaac Vinales - with Lucio Pedercini saying the demands and competitiveness of WorldSBK has forced it to delay its participation.
“I am very sorry not to be able to participate in the next two rounds in Barcelona and Assen, but unfortunately our budget changed only a few weeks before the second round of Catalunya.
“This does not preclude our participation in the 2024 World Superbike Championship, but I thought it was right to take the time necessary to strengthen our team not only from a technical point of view, but also with regards to our structure.
“There is no point in tackling one of the most difficult and competitive championships in the world without having the adequate means and preparation.
“We will use the time that separates us from the Misano round to carry out some tests and work on a general strengthening of our team, in order to present ourselves at our best at the first Italian round of WorldSBK 2024."
