Gold & Goose

Michael van der Mark will remain with BMW in 2026, but he will not continue in the World Superbike Championship.

After five years with BMW in the World Superbike Championship, Michael van der Mark will depart the series at the end of the 2025 season.

It became known that the German manufacturer was going to change their World Superbike line-up for next season after signing Danilo Petrucci and Miguel Oliveira for 2026.

The Dutch rider will continue with BMW for the 2026 season, but the racing series he will move to has not been announced. Head of Motorsport at BMW Motorrad, Sven Blusch, briefly discussed van der Mark's future ahead of the Estoril World Superbike Round.

According to Blusch, 'it is too early' to announce van der Mark's plans for 2026, but 'a good plan' is in place for the 32-year-old.

"It was clear after we said that he would not continue in World Superbikes, we immediately started talks about his future with BMW," Blusch told WorldSBK.com.

"So, it is too early now to announce anything. But we are in constant talks, and we have a good plan together for the future. Hopefully, soon we will be able to talk about that.

"Mikey has been essential for us. In the last years, he has helped us so much on the World Superbike side, also on the testing side. So, I think we will have a good future as well."

The Dutch rider first entered the World Superbike Championship in 2015 after winning the 2014 World Supersport Championship. Originally, he raced for Honda before moving to Yamaha in 2017, and finally settling at BMW in 2021.
