'Weight down, power up' – Dall'Igna's 2020 Panigale upgrades

Ducati’s technical god Gigi Dall’Igna has altered the already ballistic Panigale V4R WorldSBK contender in several areas and believes it is now ready to win the championship.

Riders Scott Redding and Chaz Davies unveiled the 2020 model at an Imola jolly-up earlier this week and Dall’Igna was on hand to outline what had been changed for this season.

“The past few months have driven the development of the Panigale V4R. Despite the outstanding competitiveness of our motorcycle last year, we are convinced that 2020 will make our main opponents even more controversial thanks to new models,” he said/

We have only one goal: to bring home the title in the Superbike World Championship.”

“It is important for us that we now know our motorcycle, last year everything was new for us. This is very important because you have very little time from the first free practice to the race to work on the setup.

“We have improved aerodynamics, one of Ducati’s strengths. Many of our ideas were copied, but that only makes us all the more proud of our innovation team.

“In the meantime we have also reached the prescribed minimum weight, last year our motorcycle was too heavy.

“We changed some details on the engine, the torque and power curve is now slightly different. The swingarm and the entire rear are new. The bottom line is that there are many changes that drivers found to be good during the first tests.”
