Sam Lowes claimed his third Superpole Race podium of the 2025 World Superbike season as he finished second in Hungary.
After crashing out of second place in Race One on Saturday, Sam Lowes was able to redeem himself in the Superpole Race with a second-place finish in tricky conditions.
The Balaton Park Circuit was wet for the morning Warm-Up session, but the track surface had begun drying in time for the Superpole Race.
This led to a split decision through the grid between slick and intermediate tyres, with Lowes opting for the slick tyres, which was the correct choice.
The British rider was in the fight from the start and led the way for a while before being passed by the eventual race winner, Toprak Razgatlioglu.
However, Lowes was able to take the chequered flag in second place and claimed his third Superpole Race podium of the year.
"I need to make it into the longer races," Lowes joked after his third Superpole Race podium of the season.
"I am really happy after yesterday. I have been quite competitive all weekend, not quite on the pace of Toprak, but I have been with the rest.
"When you are full of confidence and believe in your bike, it is so much easier in those conditions. When you are not very confident, those sorts of races are a lot tougher.
"I was confident to go with the slicks, I thought it was the right decision, and I am very happy with it.
"It was a good race. When he passed me, he must have done mid to low 1:40s in those conditions, so fair play to him.
"I am really happy, let's see what the weather does this afternoon."
A return to the podium has boosted Lowes' confidence ahead of the final race of the weekend.
"I feel good, my pace is good, and I am developing my riding in the correct way," he explained.
"I still need to make a step with my last it of braking to go with these guys, but we are not far off, so I will keep my head down."
