There are four rider options for the Michael Galinski Motorradsport Team, here are who the options may be for the Ducati squad.
With the Bonovo Action BMW Team leaving the World Superbike paddock at the end of the 2024 season the Michael Galinski Motorradsport team will effectively take their place. The current Team Manager at Bonovo Action BMW, Michael Galinkski, will spearhead this newly structured team in 2025.
Although the current team is with BMW the Michael Galinski Motorradsport team will run Ducati Panigale V4R machinery. Adding to the six Ducatis that are already present on the WorldSBK grid. However, one big part of the team is still unknown. The riders for this team are yet to be announced.
With plenty of riders out of contract at the end of the 2024 season, it seems the new team have a plethora of options. Galinski did confirm to WorldSBK.com that he has four riders who want to ride for his new team. So, here are the four riders that Galinski could be targeting for 2025:
Scott Redding:
The seemingly obvious choice for the Michael Galinski Motorradsport team is to continue with Bonovo Action BMW rider, Scott Redding.
The British rider joined the Bonovo Action BMW squad at the start of the 2024 season, but his results have not been stunning. Currently Redding is 14th in the standings and last out of the BMW riders. However, a move back to a Ducati in 2025 could rejuvenate Redding's career as his best years were on a Panigale V4R.
Back in 2019, Redding won the British Superbike Championship with Paul Bird Motorsport on a Ducati. This then led him to join the Aruba.it Racing - Ducati squad in WorldSBK in 2020. Redding won 12 races and stood on 25 further podiums for Ducati in WorldSBK.
Since joining BMW in 2022 Redding's WorldSBK career has gone downhill across the last three seasons. Whilst riding for the German manufacturer Redding has stood on the podium three times.
But Galinski confirmed to WorldSBK that Redding is one of his options for 2025 and it seems like it could be a good move for both parties.
Dominique Aegerter:
Since arriving in the WorldSBK paddock Dominique Aegerter has been Yamaha through and through. In 2021 and 2022 Aegerter won two World Supersport Championships with Ten Kate Yamaha. Which resulted in him moving to the GYTR GRT Yamaha WorldSBK Team in 2023, where he still is in 2024.
Despite his four years in blue the Swiss rider could be on his way out of Yamaha at the end of the season. In an interview with Motorsport-Total.com Aegerter spoke about his WorldSBK future and stated "the conditions must be right” to stay with the team and that he has “other alternatives”.
Although Aegerter has not matched his WorldSSP performances in WorldSBK a rider with his experience could be a great asset for the Michael Galinski Motorradsport team.
Marcel Schroetter:
After two years in World Supersport Marcel Schroetter has been linked with a move to the World Superbikes. The German rider has been riding an MV Agusta for two years and finished third in the WorldSSP Championship in 2023.
The 2024 season has fallen apart for Schroetter as he started as a Championship favourite but has dropped to fifth. If Schroetter wants to move to WorldSBK then the 2025 season would be the perfect opportunity for the 31-year-old.
Philipp Oettl:
Another German rider who has been linked to the Michael Galinski Motorradsport team is Philipp Oettl. The 28-year-old is known to bring sponsorships with him to teams that he rides for, so would be good for monetary reasons.
However, over three years in World Superbikes Oettl has never established himself as a front-runner in the class. Oettl's best result was fifth place in 2023 on a Ducati, but his best Championship finish was 13th in 2022.
Oettl spent two years on a Ducati in the GoEleven Ducati squad before moving to the GMT94 Yamaha squad in 2024. However, he most likely will be overlooked due to the other talent available at the moment.
