Suzuki’s Naomichi Uramoto is to make his debut WorldSBK appearance at Circuito de Navarra, in Spain, next weekend as the championship prepares for round seven.
The Japanese rider, who races in the Spanish Superbike Championship, will step up to WorldSBK with his ESBK team, JEG Racing, for the Spanish track’s inaugural race.
Providing the first Suzuki showing in the class since the Buildbase BSB team joined the 2018 Donington round - with Bradley Ray and Gino Rea - the 26-year-old is planning to use the experience as a test ahead of his ESBK visit a week later, after the wildcard came as a surprise even to him.
“I do not know what to expect, as this has been decided so suddenly,” Uramoto admitted before continuing “but I thank the team for giving me this great opportunity.
“Since this is my first time racing in the World Superbike Championship, I am looking forward to it.
“I have an ESBK race at the same circuit the following week, I will try to enjoy it, thinking of it as a test for the following week.”
