World Superbike boss Flammini speaks about Dorna takeover

World Superbike godfather Paolo Flammini has spoken about the mid-week announcement that the series he and brother Maurizio created will now be run under the same umbrella as MotoGP as parent company Bridgepoint re-organises both businesses.

The likeable Italian held a press conference at Magny-Cours this morning and took great pains to point out that nothing will change in the series for 2013 and that even though his position is not clear going forward, he will do whatever it takes to ensure the stability and growth of the series.

"We will do whatever is necessary for the good of the World Superbike Championship. This is the end of the re-organisation process and whatever will happen, we want the Superbike World Championship will continue to grow and be a very strong product. We created, along with our people, from zero and we have always been looking for success and stability for the championship," said Flammini, speaking at Magny-Cours this morning.

"This is the reason we made many big partnerships. When you open your company to external investors, you give an advantage to the company but clearly you can lose power on a personal level. This is not a problem. So long as this re-organisation will bring a good result for the Superbike World Championship, we will co-operate whatever our position in the new structure.

"The 2013 season will go ahead as it is already planned. About the future, I cannot give you any information, it will part of the strategy that will be implemented so we will see what will happen. My position is not decided yet, we will discuss that in the next weeks and see what solution we will find."
