WorldSBK Aragon: 'As a team we can beat Jonathan here' – Redding

Reigning British Superbike Champion Scott Redding has the gloves off early for this weekend's Aragon WorldSBK round, believing he can beat reigning champion Jonathan Rea.

Redding has not raced the Panigale at the Alcaniz track before but has MotoGP experience and tested well here a couple of weeks ago, so is on a confidence high.

'The goal this weekend is to fight for podiums and victories. We definitely have the machine in the Panigale V4R to do that," said Redding, speaking at the track.

"Coming from Portimao where we struggled a little bit with the bike setup but in the final race we managed to make a step. We could see that, I knew I had the pace but we struggled as a team to find the direction.

"It happens sometimes, we took it on the chin and we finished on a high. I feel pretty good, I believe that's what we need to do this weekend. I know Jonathan will be pretty strong but I know as a team we can beat him.

"It's important to get off to a good start at Aragon as we have six races which is a lot of points to lose or take. It's a track that I like and Ducati's history here is successful."
