WorldSBK Assen: Laverty out of FP2, set for Saturday review

Eugene Laverty’s Assen action came to an abrupt end on Friday morning with a fast highside at turn 15 in WorldSBK’s FP1.

The Bonovo Action rider suffered the corner entry highside at Ramshoek in the closing ten minutes with the Northern Irishman lucky to escape being struck by his BMW M1000 RR as they rolled at speed through the gravel.

Initial checks from the medical centre declared him subject to review before FP2 with later clarification ruling him out of Friday’s afternoon action ahead of a Saturday morning follow-up.

Laverty completed FP1 15th in the standings with a best time of 1’36.872, 2.406s adrift of reigning Champion Toprak Razgatlioglu.
