After announcing he will remain with Ducati for 2024 Alvaro Bautista has not slowed down as he hunts down his second World Superbike title. The Spaniard obliterated the field once again and claimed pole in Barcelona.
The Spaniard has been a class act so far this weekend once again, this is only Bautista's second pole of the season. However, it looks like Bautista may be unbeatable this weekend if his form continues into the Race later today.
On the front row will be Dominique Aegerter (GRT Yamaha) as the Swiss rider put his Yamaha second on the grid. After leaving it late to set his lap time in qualifying Jonathan Rea (Kawasaki Racing Team) managed to get across the line and set a time that put himself third on the grid
Michael Ruben Rinaldi (Aruba.it Racing - Ducati) was quickest in FP1 on Friday but could only set a lap time good enough for fourth when it really counted.
After struggling in Assen Honda are looking to turn their form around at Catalunya and Iker Lecuona (Team HRC) is doing a good job as he qualified fifth on the grid.
Alex Lowes (Kawasaki Racing Team) crashed towards the end of qualifying and bought out a Red Flag so did not restart with the other riders. However, he still managed to set a lap time that placed him sixth on the grid.
Remy Gardner (GRT Yamaha) did not qualify as high as his teammate. However, the former Moto2 Champion still managed to set a good lap time and placed himself seventh on the grid.
Toprak Razgatlioglu (Pata Yamaha Prometeon WorldSBK Team) has really struggled this weekend so far and is in an unusual position for where we are used to him being as he will start eighth.
Garrett Gerloff (Bonovo Action BMW) has had a great weekend around Catalunya so far and continued in qualifying. The Texan qualified as the top BMW rider and will start from ninth place on the grid.
Andrea Locatelli (Pata Yamaha Prometeon WorldSBK Team) also qualified further down from where we expected as the Italian could only manage tenth on the grid.
Scott Redding (RoKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team) could only manage a lap time that put him 13th overall. Bradley Ray (Motoxracing WorldSBK Team) had a poor start to the session with a technical issue and benefited from the Red Flag and managed to set a lap time that placed him 18th on the grid. Once again Tom Sykes (Puccetti Racing) struggled and could only manage 23rd on the grid.
