Living just down the road from the British circuit, Donington Park truly is a home WorldSBK round for Kawasaki’s Alex Lowes.
With momentum in play following a top five in Misano, and a raft of track time since the mid-June round thanks to Suzuka 8-hour prep and a private test at Motorland Aragon in recent weeks, Lowes is on the hunt for his debut podium of the season in front of his local support.
“Donington is the only time we get to race in front of the British fans so I am really looking forward to that this coming weekend,” Lowes said ahead of his home race. “It seems there will be a big turnout of spectators and the weather looks like it is going to be mega. Typical English weather - so it is going to be really hot!” he joked.
“Donington is a track I really enjoy, I have had good results there, the Kawasaki has had good results there, so there is no better place to get our first podium of the season - which is long overdue.
“I live really close to the track and I will enjoy it,” he continued. “We have been building up some good momentum, too. I feel good and I can’t wait to get started. It is going to be a good fun weekend in front of the home fans and let’s try to get onto the podium.”
