WorldSBK Estoril: Razgatlioglu raring to ride after ‘disappointing Assen’

WorldSBK Champion Toprak Razgatlioglu is hungry for a successful trip to Portugal this week after a ‘disappointing’ Dutch TT.

Estoril beckons for round three, a track that has greatly favoured Pata Yamaha’s Razgatlioglu in the past with the Turk standing on the podium in every race last season and commanding the Lisbon track’s reintroduction back in 2020 with a pole to flag victory and an R1 lockout in the opening battle.

While Assen provided his second pole position of the season and his fifth straight podium of 2022, the 25-year-old has yet to stand on the top step during his defence campaign, with a crash in the final race last time out adding to the determination for more as Estoril approaches.

“The gap between races feels very long, and now I really want to ride again,” Razgatlioglu said ahead of the weekend action. “I have done a lot of training at home in Turkey and now, we are feeling ready for Estoril.

“Last race in Assen was disappointing, but better to forget this and keep looking forward.

"Estoril is a track I like a lot and in the past we have some good battles – and also some nice results for Yamaha with one-two-three podium in 2020! Now, this weekend the focus is to win again – I’m ready.”
