Update: Despite ‘going to the toilet far too many times this weekend’ Lowes has elected to try the Superpole race…
Kawasaki’s Alex Lowes has withdrawn from both Sunday’s WorldSBK morning warm up and Superpole race as his health is evaluated.
Lowes has been suffering with illness across the Czech round of the FIM Superbike World Championship with an intestinal infection confirmed on Sunday morning. Having qualified on row two for Saturday’s race, Lowes suffered a poor start before battling with Ducati’s Micahel Rinaldi to run as high as seventh during the opening 22-lap contest. The Brit ultimatly fading in the closing stages to cross the line ninth.
The 31-year-old’s KRT team has taken the decision to sit him out of both the warm up session and the sprint Superpole race on Sunday with further evaluations under way ahead of the afternoon’s second feature length battle.
