WorldSBK Most: Laverty seeks return to early-season form

Bonovo BMW's Eugene Laverty is seeking a return to the WorldSBK form he had before the big crash at Assen but will have to find a rear-grip solution at Most in order to achieve it.

The Czech Republic track is new to Laverty but he has turned some laps on a track day so he at least knows which was to turn at the bottom of pitlane tomorrow morning.

"Most is a track I have not been before, but I was grateful that Bonovo action BMW Racing provided me with a bike to ride there a month ago at a track day just to learn the layout," he said.

"That means I can start free practice one knowing where the track goes. Donington was tough for me, so I need to regain the form I had at the start of the season. That is my goal.

"Our BMW Superbike is capable of more, so now it is up to me to deliver the results I know the bike and I are capable of.

The Irishman has struggled to get the most out of the satellite BMW this year and it would seem that, compared to the other M1000RR riders at least, Laverty is simply not heavy enough to generate the required mechanical grip - someting that was evident at Donington Park.

"It was very difficult from the first laps. Together with my team we tried everything, but there was no way to get the rear tyre to work this weekend. Compared to the other three BMW riders, it was clear whenever we looked at the tire usage that I had no grip.

"So, it was clear that with my smaller size I cannot use the rear tyre on this track, and that was the main problem all weekend. From that point of view, it was difficult. And I am not a rider who likes to finish the race before, but in the final race it did not make sense to do those last laps. I was so far behind. I did everything with my team, they never give up, but right now it is really tough times."
