WorldSBK Most: Yamaha R3 Cup race preview

A 24 strong-grid prepares for the penultimate round of the Yamaha R3 bLU cRU European Cup at Autodrom Most this weekend.

Brazil’s Enzo Valentim currently holds the top spot in the standings, having taken and impressive run of three wins and seven podiums from this season’s eight races. However, title rival, Italy’s Devis Bergamini is on a charge after securing a double victory last time out at Donington Park placing him second in the standings and 26 points adrift.

Four points further back finds Brazilian youngster Kevin Fontainha, who’s consistency means he’s firmly in the fight despite not winning a race this year, while Andrea Pizzoli remains in the mix in fourth creating a double Brazilian and Italian battle in the closing stages of the 2022 campaign.

With last year’s dominant double victor, Maxim Repak, not present for the Czech round this season, Spanish youngster Marc Vich, is hoping his podium memories from 2021, after finishing third, are reignited thanks to his experience at the 4.2km circuit. The field is bolstered further by two local wildcards, as Adela Ourednicek and Daniel Turecek join Filip Jurànek at his home round to take the number of Czech competitors on the grid to three.

The Most circuit has undergone several changes since making its debut in the WorldSBK Championship last year, including resurfacing and track reconstruction. With both races expected to be run in wet conditions, the battle for victory is set to be as unpredictable as ever, and with 50 points up for grabs, the title fight is still wide open.
