WorldSBK Phillip Island Test: Bulega continues WorldSSP domination

Aruba Ducati made it two from two on Tuesday as Nicolo Bulega dominated the WorldSSP times in the final day of testing.

With its reigning champion on top for Superbike, the Bologna factory looked to be after a clean sweep with Bulega ahead of the pack in Supersport testing for the second day running, this time by half a second. The Italian’s 1’32.781 lap secured the spoils in the afternoon from Ten Kate Yamaha’s Stefano Manzi, with the pair equally in command throughout the morning.

Puccetti Kawasaki’s Can Öncü and Althea Ducati’s Federico Caricasulo bickered over the top three across the day with the Turkish rider winning out by less than a tenth in the combined times. While Yari Montella completed the top five on his move to Barni.

A difficult day for the British riders found John McPhee the highest placed, in 18th. The Scotsman finally getting to grips with his Vince64 Kawasaki thanks to 61 laps of the demanding Australian layout following a day of technical issues, with 1’35.827 his new personal best despite an additional battle with ill health. Tarran Mackenzie, however, was not so lucky on the MIE MS Honda, with no laps set for the entire day.
