Kawasaki Racing’s Alex Lowes is ready and raring to go for WorldSBK’s penultimate round of 2021 in Argentina.
Despite impressive qualifying performances at the end of the European season, Lowes was forced to miss the majority of the race action at Portimao and Jerez, due to his ongoing hand injury as the triple header concluded. The 31-year-old, however, remains hopeful of a competitive return in the first of two flyaway rounds.
With a best result of two fifth places on his last visit to Villicum, albeit on a Yamaha in 2019, Lowes is confident of his experience at the San Juan Circuit and eager to return to the podium this weekend.
“It’s going to be great to do an overseas race for the first time since the pandemic started,” Lowes said as he prepared to travel. “Big thanks to WorldSBK and everyone involved as I’m sure there has been a lot of organising going on to get us there!
“The layout of the Villicum track is one I really enjoy. I’ve been working hard to improve the condition of my hand and wrist and after missing most of the previous two events I’m excited to get back on the starting grid.
“The target as always is to be fighting for the podium, hopefully my physical condition allows me to do that as the last few events have confirmed we have the pace.”
