WorldSSP to get control electronics from 2019

WorldSSP will use a control ECU from next season onwards, according to a clear-as-concrete statement from the FIM.

The championship will have access to the spec Mektronic MKE7 electronics unit from the Portimao race onwards and it will become mandatory from next season.

This, apparently, is not a pre-cursor to a spec-ECU in WorldSBK.

The statement reads:

The Superbike Commission decided to allow all teams competing in the 2018 FIM Supersport World Championship to use the MKE7 ECU as from the Portimao race.

As from the season 2019, the use of this MKE7 ECU will become unique (and Standard) and a rpm limitation common to all manufacturers will be applied.
