Xerox Ducati's Troy Bayliss has taken pole position by one tenth of a second from Troy Corser at Brno this afternoon - but the big news is that reigning British Superbike Champion Ryuichi Kiyonari has found his form qualifying fifth.
Kiyo was first out in Superpole and laid down a 1'59.318 which wasn't beaten until Michel Fabrizio came out and bettered the time by half a second just after WSB new boy Niccolo Canepa put his Ducati F08 into second 0.006s behind the Japanese Ten Kate Honda rider.
Troy Corser looked to the have the measure of the field, beating Fabrizio by four-tenths which remained the fastest time until Bayliss banged in his fastest lap, denying Corser his 42nd superpole victory.
Max Biaggi was the last man to ride in superpole, but could only manage fourth. It looks good for Bayliss tomorrow as his title rival Max Neukirchner is backon the third row while Carlos Checa is even further back in 13th place.
Corser said: "It always worries me when Bayliss goes out behind me! We have got a good setup for tomorrow and it's looking good."
Bayliss said: "It's been a bogey track for me, never had great results here. The track is really nice now. We're looking good on race tyres, we did a good race distance this morning so it's OK."
